Robert E. Smith Jr.: 2016 Healthcare Heroes Finalist

March 9, 2016

Please join us in congratulating Robert E. Smith, Jr., Coordinator of Mentoring and Activities at New Vitae Wellness and Recovery Mount Trexler Manor!  Robert is a finalist in the 2016 Healthcare Heroes awards, a program dedicated to recognizing excellence in a variety of provider organizations.  Robert’s passion for helping others and giving nature made him a perfect candidate for nomination in the "Special Needs" category.  The awards, sponsored by Lehigh Valley Business, honor the contributions of those driven to provide individualized, supportive healthcare services.  Finalists and winners for each category will be announced in a special supplement to the April 25th edition of Lehigh Valley Business.

Robert is a strong advocate for the residents at Mount Trexler Manor.  He is able to ease the transition for new residents and maintains meaningful relationships with both residents and colleagues.  His genuine nature and giving spirit, combined with his creativity and interest in service to others has resulted in many votes for Favorite Staff Member at work and other acknowledgements by his peers.  He was given the 2015 New Vitae Wellness and Recovery Iris Award as a symbol of his outstanding commitment to promoting recovery.  Robert puts the needs of residents above all other tasks.

We are so excited for the results of the voting, but know that regardless of the award presentations, he is a committed and tireless staff member who is one of our community’s heroes!

Congratulations again, Robert, and good luck with the process!

"New Vitae Young Adult Services has helped me so much. The mentor staff is great. They are reliable, and always willing to teach me how to do things, rather than just doing them for me. Since coming to the program, I've grown into a better person."
