Cheryl Smith, BA
Cheryl sought employment through New Vitae following several years of serving individuals who had been diagnosed with intellectual disabilities (ID). While working with individuals with ID was very rewarding, Cheryl was interested in utilizing her degree and her skills with a new population – those who are participating in behavioral health services. She started at New Vitae in 1996, originally working at New Vitae in the Partial Hospitalization Program. Due to the growth and development of the New Vitae services, Cheryl was able to apply her talents to a variety of positions in the company. Her current role as Apartment Services Supervisor for the Pathways program permits her to continue working with individuals on their personal goals. Cheryl’s efforts have resulted in her winning the New Vitae Residents’ Choice Award twice during her time in various roles. Cheryl’s leisure time is spent with her family. She also enjoys horseback riding, reading, sharing time with pets, visiting amusement parks, and volunteering as a Deacon at her Church. Cheryl’s hopes for the future include continuing her education and continuing to facilitate a supportive, caring environment for residents. She looks forward to empowering staff and residents to live the New Vitae mission that includes the provision of safe, holistic care.
