On Friday, September 9, 2016, four women from the New Vitae Wellness and Recovery executive leadership team met with other female leaders from across the region to hear a dynamic and energizing message from former United States Army Black Hawk Helicopter Pilot, Elizabeth McCormick. Haverford Trust Company hosted the wellness initiative entitled, “Investing in Yourself: Finding Your Inner Hero.” Judith Yanacek, President and CEO, Michelle Beck, Vice President of Business Operations, Toby Tarquin, Administrator of Personal Care Homes and Pathways, and Kathleen Leonard, Director of New Vitae Recovery Center were inspired by the many personal stories, experiences and lessons shared by Ms. McCormick from her days serving as a Black Hawk Pilot and Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Army.
The value of transparency as well as showing up for yourself and others were key elements of Ms. McCormick’s message. She also shared confidence boosting strategies, including: the power of positive words, delete what doesn’t serve, and create a positive suit of armor.
In addition to authoring her book titled The P.I.L.O.T. Method: The 5 Elemental Truths to Leading Yourself In Life, McCormick’s website (www.soar2success.com) includes free training and plenty of other resources.
New Vitae Wellness and Recovery continues to focus on efforts to enhance wellness initiatives for residents and employees. We look forward to connecting with McCormick in the future to serve Veterans through work with the Travis Manion Foundation.
