According to recent research, young adults aged 18 to 25 experienced the greatest prevalence of behavioral health challenges when compared to other adult age groups (SAMHSA, 2017). Despite the increased prevalence, young adults in the same study were the least likely group to participate in behavioral health services. Without individualized, trauma-informed services, it can be very challenging for young adults to progress in independence and share healthy, supportive relationships.
New Vitae Wellness and Recovery is proud to offer specialized services for young adults. Focusing on integrated physical and behavioral healthcare, services facilitate holistic wellness while assisting young adults with learning effective self-care and independent living skills. Varied therapeutic groups assist young adults with developing skills to find work, learn to cook, and budget/manage money safely.
Services specifically emphasize the value of positive peer support and healthy relationships. New Vitae’s supports encourage social connections through a variety of activities, such as hiking, bowling, and consistent gym visits. These and other outings help young adult residents with increasing their level of activity and by offering opportunities to encourage social contacts. These activities, in conjunction with individual and group therapies, offer young adults opportunities to use their developing social skills with their peers in safe, manageable situations.
Young Adult supports can also include tutoring and scholastic supports to assist with future planning. Several young adult residents have been successful with obtaining college credits, high school diplomas, General Education Degrees, and non-traditional school goals. Many young adults find and continue to work in competitive and sheltered employment while engaging in behavioral health supports as well. New Vitae Wellness and Recovery’s young adult services assist with goal planning for a variety of needs.
