Celebrating Our Brain Injury Warriors
At New Vitae Wellness and Recovery, we recently hosted a special Brain Injury Awareness Event to celebrate the strength, courage, and determination of our residents. On Thursday, March 27, our Action Recovery Brain Injury Program brought together residents, staff, and community members to honor the resilience of our Brain Injury Warriors.
March is recognized nationally as Brain Injury Awareness Month, a time to elevate understanding and support for individuals living with brain injuries. Our Brain Injury Awareness Event brought this awareness to life in a vibrant, creative, and heartfelt way.
Residents and staff gathered at our Anne’s Artisan Center to share food, laughter, stories, and—most importantly—each other’s company. The afternoon featured an art show and exhibit, showcasing the incredible artwork created by our residents. Each piece told a unique story of healing, resilience, and personal growth. The creativity and talent on display were a true reflection of the strength within each of our residents.
The event was filled with smiles, connection, and powerful reminders of what it means to be a warrior. Kylee, one of our residents, bravely shared her personal journey as a brain injury survivor, accompanied by photos that captured her experiences and recovery. Her presentation was both inspirational and moving, reminding us all of the courage and perseverance it takes to rebuild and redefine life after a brain injury.
Beyond the art and storytelling, the day was also about fun and connection. Residents and staff enjoyed lively games of bingo and other activities, creating moments of joy and laughter. And of course, there was plenty of delicious food for everyone to enjoy while celebrating together.
We define a Brain Injury Warrior as someone who has experienced a brain injury—whether from trauma, stroke, illness, or other causes—and continues to fight through the challenges of recovery, adaptation, and advocacy. Our residents embody that warrior spirit every day.
This Brain Injury Awareness Event wasn’t just a party. It was a meaningful opportunity to celebrate the resilience, strength, and determination of individuals who live with the lasting effects of brain injury. It was a moment to recognize the courage it takes to navigate life after a brain injury and to remind each other that no one has to walk that path alone.
We are so proud of our residents, staff, and supporters who made this day meaningful. Together, we continue to promote awareness, break stigma, and build a community of support for all Brain Injury Warriors.
