The Pride Award at New Vitae Wellness and Recovery is presented to individuals who exemplify innovation, ownership, and pride in their work and in advancing our mission. This year, Brian Considine wins the Pride Award, celebrating his dedication, leadership, and commitment to our residents and team members.
This year’s Pride Award winner, Brian Considine, perfectly embodies these values. Brian’s journey at New Vitae Wellness and Recovery is one of growth, resilience, and unwavering dedication. From his beginnings as an activities coordinator to his current role as Director of Operations, Brian’s story is one of finding purpose, embracing opportunities, and making a lasting impact on residents and peers alike.
Brian’s path to New Vitae began in an unexpected place. “I went to school for plumbing and carpentry and even worked on roller coasters at Dorney Park,” he shares with a laugh. But his calling became clear when he took a job at a runaway shelter. “I loved that job! I knew I wanted to help people, but it was nonprofit, and they couldn’t offer full-time hours.” He then worked at a drug rehabilitation center for a few years before finding his way to New Vitae—then Tri-County—and never looked back.
Starting in October 2002 as an Activities Coordinator, Brian’s role was to bring joy and fun to the residents’ lives. “I took them to Florida twice, sledding, camping, and to countless malls. My job was to have fun, and that’s what we did!” Over time, his passion for helping others drove him to pursue new opportunities within the organization, and his dedication didn’t go unnoticed.
Brian worked his way through various roles, including Care Coordinator, Lead Vocational Mentor, and now, Director of Operations. Reflecting on his journey, he says, “This is a great fit for me. My skills from plumbing and carpentry, knowing the residents, and understanding the building from my years here all come together perfectly.”
Winning the New Vitae 2024 Pride Award is a deeply meaningful milestone for Brian, who values the significance of his work. “People often ask me, ‘How have you worked here so long?’ My answer is simple—I want to be here. I want to be here for the residents, my peers, and our leadership. I’ve grown so much, and it’s because I’ve grown here.”
Over the years, Brian has been recognized for his dedication and hard work through various awards at New Vitae, but one honor stands out the most. “The Residents’ Choice Award means everything to me because it’s chosen by the residents themselves,” he shares. This recognition is a testament to the genuine connections he’s built with those he serves.
For Brian, the secret to his success lies in passion and pride.
“Find something you love, because if you love it, can you even call it work? When you take pride in what you do, it means the world. When you want to do a great job, you end up doing a great job. And when you don’t want to let people down, you won’t.”
As the tour guide for Quakertown House, Brian’s energy and enthusiasm are contagious. “All I do on my tours is show the house and show how much I want to be here. That energy passes on to them,” he explains.
Brian’s journey showcases the qualities of a true leader and the impact of the New Vitae Pride Award. His journey inspires everyone at New Vitae Wellness and Recovery and perfectly embodies the heart of the Pride Award.
