On Tuesday, October 30th, members of the New Vitae Wellness and Recovery leadership team attended a luncheon at the Sun Inn to hear from Pennsylvania’s Governor Wolf regarding his plan to continue improvements made in his first term. Representatives from New Vitae included Adam Devlin, Board Chair; Donna Devlin, Executive Administrator; Judith Yanacek, President and CEO; William Hoke, Vice President of Development; and Michelle Beck, Vice President of Business Operations, who were all able to meet with Governor Wolf to discuss issues that are critical to the wellbeing of our state and its citizens. Governor Wolf discussed strategies for improving education, ensuring health insurance coverage, reducing recidivism and prison costs, and balancing the state budget.
In private conversations with the Governor, New Vitae was able to offer thanks and support for his efforts to:
• Ensure safe residential behavioral health supports throughout varied counties in Pennsylvania
• Break down governmental silos to initiate the creation of an integrated/centralized call command station for emergencies
• Allocate money to assist with school safety issues, including student behavioral health and substance use disorder challenges
New Vitae Wellness and Recovery leaders were honored for the opportunity to meet with Governor Wolf and his team and appreciated the chance to offer feedback on the challenges associated with behavioral health and substance use evaluation and treatment.
